Gift Certificates Aren’t Always the Best Gift
What is the perfect gift? This answer largely depends on your situation. Some people prefer jewelry while others would love to receive something a little more practical. Baby shower gifts are the same way. Different people want different gifts, and it can be very difficult to decide what to purchase when you receive baby shower invitations. For this reason, many people buy gifts cards. These certainly are easy gift, but are they the right gift?
There is no easier gift than a gift card. They can be easily picked while at the store and slipped effortlessly into a card. They are easy to mail and easy to wrap. Often you can pick up a gift certificate on the way to the baby shower without even having to plan ahead. Plus, they are always useful. While gift cards and gift certificates might seem like the most practical gift around, in reality they often go unspent. This means that you have spent your money on a gift that will never amount to anything at all. Gift cards can also carry hidden fees and can even expire. While they might be easy gifts, they are not always very practical.
Another reason that gift certificates might not always be the best choice is that they can be easily lost or misplaced. Plus, if the person that you purchased the card for doesn’t shop at the particular store, they might not use the gift. If you want to give a gift that will surely delight, you might want to rethink that gift card purchase. There are many other simple gifts out there that are much better choices than gift certificates.
If you are stumped about what to give at the next baby shower you attend, try walking down the baby products aisle. You will find adorable blankets, cute bottles, clothing and more. If you are still unsure, cash is always a viable option as well. While gift cards are much more common, cash is always a great gift. It is still very easy and will work for anyone, plus you will know that it will be spent. After all, there is no expiration on a $20 bill!
