Half Yearly Financial Results Bring Good News for 3
The financial results of Hutchison Whampoa have brought good news for itself as well as its subsidiary, the mobile broadband provider 3.
The results show that as on June 30 2009, the half yearly revenue of 3 mobile broadband amounts to £784 million. This is a total increase of 2% as compared to 2008. While rise in its revenue may not look very significant, it is phenomenal when compared to other service providers. T-Mobile has registered a 4.2% reduction in its half yearly revenue. In addition to this, the consumer base of 3 mobile broadband has also grown by 170% and has come close to 3.8 million in the last six months.
However, the service provider still faces the problem of average revenue from each subscriber going down. One reason for this could be the recession. However, it could also be due to high competition between different service providers (click to compare mobile broadband) that has forced them to cut down prices for facilities like roaming and termination of connection, said the chairman of Hutchinson Whampoa.
