West Bay Capital £50million Liverpool Office Block

Family owned company, West Bay Capital, has put forward plans for a £50million office building in Liverpool’s city centre. The Northern Ireland company plan to construct 225,000 square foot of Desk Space at 30 Pall Mall, set to be the biggest commercial building in Liverpool.

If permission’s granted, West Bay hopes to start construction before the end of 2009. Although funding is available, much is subject to offices being pre-let and the project will be completed in two phases over the next 3years. West Bay are keen to provide the office space needed for 2,500 jobs being created at the Ministry of Justice. Their proposal being the only building to meet Government requirements in the city.

West Bay have already completed commercial and residential developments in London, Belfast and Dublin. Ashley Moore, company director, said it was a “Huge vote of confidence” and “a fantastic economic boost” for Liverpool. Being vital for maintaining commercial growth in the city.

Adding he believed it could become “one of the UK’s premier business destinations”. The plans include a car park, two eighteen storey office buildings, a covered courtyard, cafes, shops and restaurants. Architect for Broadway Malayan, Matt Brook, stated it would be the city’s “greenest office development”.

Mason Owen, project agent’s spokesman, also stated that a project of this size indicated the “underlying strengths” of Liverpool commercially. Believing that such an innovative development would attract both public and private sector companies, helping Liverpool “expand and diversify its commercial economy”. Downtown Liverpool in Business, is a lobby group chaired by Frank McKenna. He stated this was a “sign of returning confidence”. Looks like good news all around for Liverpool.
